had a very disappointing and stressful experience at Stouffville Toyota. During a service visit, I was told that my brakes were “far more worn” than they actually were and was pressured toward unnecessary work. After having the brakes checked independently, it was clear the assessment provided to me was significantly exaggerated. The situation escalated when the dealership refused to release my vehicle, even though my children’s car seats were inside. I was effectively prevented from taking my own car home. Despite repeated requests, the vehicle was not returned to me that day. I ultimately had to contact the police to resolve the situation and was only able to retrieve my car the next day. This was extremely upsetting and completely unacceptable, especially where children’s safety equipment was involved. Trust and transparency are critical when dealing with a dealership. Unfortunately, based on my experience, Stouffville Toyota failed on both fronts. I will not be returning and would strongly caution others to be careful when dealing with service recommendations here.
My wife and I have been brining our Toyota’s here for several years. They are always fast, reliable, fair, and friendly. John is great and always takes care of us.
I recently had an issue with the service for my 2010 Prius at this dealership on April 13th. I brought my car in because the battery was draining and the PCS system was flashing. I was told that the problem was fixed and paid $1423 for the repair. However, after driving the car for a month, the PCS light came back on and the battery was still draining. I took the car back to the dealership and they told me that there was another issue with the car that they did not detect before and I'd pay another $877 to fix it. I have brought this issue up to the service managers, but unfortunately, I have not received a response. While I understand that car repairs can be complex, I feel that better communication and transparency from the dealership would have been appreciated. I hope that this issue can be resolved in a fair and satisfactory manner however till day, the issues arent resolved after paying these sums; as the battery is draining within 3 days and the PCS issue may come at any time.
I took my 2014 Camry to a local high-volume, well-known GTA dealership that I had used before, with a known transmission problem. They "diagnosed" my problem and told me I needed either a new Toyota transmission (~$6600) or a rebuilt transmission (~$3500). When I brought up the fact that this was known issue with them, they insisted that was not the problem with my vehicle. I then called Stouffville Toyota, where I originally purchased my vehicle pre-owned, and talked to John A. I explained the issue with the transmission, and John booked an appointment for a test drive and diagnostics. I brought my car in, and within 90 minutes, John told me that he would write up a report and submit it to Toyota Canada. Exactly a week later, John let me know that the repair (not a completely new transmission) would be covered under an Enhanced Toyota Warranty program. The repair has been completed and I have a vehicle that I love and that is running perfectly. My family will likely need 3 new and/or pre-owned Toyota vehicles over the next 2 - 4 years, and I will be coming straight to Stouffville Toyota to purchase them. Stouffville Toyota, you can thank John A and the excellent and professional service he provided.
